‘Champions aren’t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a dream, a desire, a vision’. The much awaited event Annual Sports Day cum Grand Parents Day 2018 (Shishu Vatika) was held at BVM, USN with much fervor and passion . The playground was decorated with flags, bunting, kites and balloons. The event began with the March Past by the teeny-weenies of Shishu Vatika. The Chief Guests of the auspicious event , esteemed members of the BVM Trust, Sh. O.P.Sabharwal ji (President), Sh. M.M.Vyas ji (Secretary), Sh. R.K.Behal ji (Joint Secretary), Sh. M.M. Bamba ji (Treasurer), Sh. K.C.Maini ji (Member, BVM Trust) took the salute and lit the ceremonial lamp. The school choir paid a melodious tribute to Shri Vivekananda ji on his birthday highlighting the message, ‘Take risks in life, because if you win you may lead and if you lose you may guide’. The event was followed by hoisting of the BVM Sports flag by Sh. R.K.Behal ji and Sh. M.M.Bamba ji who declared the sports meet 2018 ‘Open’. Tricolour balloons released in the azure sky spread the message of peace and harmony. The Principal Mrs. Bandana Sethi extended a warm welcome to the august gathering. Delving upon the importance of sports, she said, “Sports do not build character, they reveal it.” She also appreciated the valuable guidance of the BVM Trust and unconditional support of the parents to make such events a great success. Mr. Baljeet Singh (a Sports Teacher) submitted a report on the splendid achievements of BVMites at State as well as National level.
The series of events was kicked off with the sacred sports torch lightening by Deepti Sharma (National level Chess Champion), Priyanka Chaudhary (State level winner and National level participant Squay Marshall Arts) & Kunal Dawar (State level Yoga Champion). It was followed by oath ceremony administered by the confident Kindergartener, Kanan. A scintillating group dance performance by the Lilliputians left everyone spellbound. Energizing mass PT, exercise drill set the tone for all the wonderful athletic events. The event was filled with the spirit of sportsmanship and unity. The spectacular mass PT entertaining prop drill by cutie pies of Pre Nursery (Rainbow & Star), Fan Drill by KG (Marigold). Butterfly and Flower drill by Nursery (Lotus and Sunflower), Pom-Pom Drill by Nursery (Rose, Dahlia) and by KG (Pansy & Jasmine), Parachute drill by Pre Nursery (Rainbow and Star) and Lazium drill by KG (Lily) were the striking attractions of the mega event. The munchkins were bursting with energy as they participated in Astronout Race, Jelly Fish race, Kite Flying race, Sapling race, Hurdle race, Ball Balancing race. Motive to imbibe healthy eating habits from the grass root level was well achieved through the Healthy Tiffin Competition. Mrs. Sunaina Gulati m/o Ananta Gulati was the winner in this competition. The dance activity conducted for the parents and grandparents won huge applause. The BVM damsels added the warmth of Lohri to the occasion with their mesmerizing folk dance performance compelling everyone to tap his feet. The parents were all praise for the magnanimous sports eve organized by the school management and faculty.
The winners of the various events were felicitated with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and certificates. Blithesome activities of the Sports Day culminated with the vote of thanks presented by Mrs. Bandana Sethi (Principal) with the formal declaration of the meet closed. The event ended with Vande Mataram.
